This photo goes with my earlier post about alley cats.

This is titled "everyone is loved by someone, even mean ole alley cats." I sculpted the male cat first then decided he needed a sweet loving little cat to take care of him and to soften his hard edges.  When I start molding the clay I never know what I will end up with.  To me the clay just seems like I am holding a live medium in my hands.

Thoughts on artists

Artists in today's world
Today so many women and men have to enter some form of making a living and do not have the pleasure of taking up art early in their careers. I probably was amongst the generation where I could take classes as well as raise a family.  Now I find that most young people tell me, “I want to do art, but I just can’t fit it into my schedule.”  I find that most of the artists are retired from some career and now they are enjoying their art.  Actually, when you think of it the life span now, it is such that you can have about 20 years after retirement to enjoy the career you always wanted in art.  Think of it as you just graduated from college with an art degree and now you are starting your career in art at the age of 65.
Now at 77, I am going to try becoming a writer on a blog.  I may still have 20 years to perfect this art form. God willing and the creek don't rise. (for the younger generation that is an old saying when bridges over the streams were few and far between.)

This is a coffee table book that I published that includes 88 artists and authors from the Northeast Georgia Mountain area. I have it for sale on my etsy site. http://www.etsy.com/shop/eastburnoriginals/

This is my first attempt at adding a photo of my art.  This is a "Good Spirit Home" that is out of white porcelain and I have hand painted the flowers.  The cotton inside is so that your good spirits have a comfortable place to rest.  I sell this on my etsy.com/shop/eastburnoriginals site.

Always learning

Today I am learning how to set up a blog spot to promote my art.  Who says old alley cats can't learn new tricks.  I changed that sentence from dog to alley cats because I would much rather run a little on the adventurous side then lay at someones feet waiting to be petted.

I have been selling my art since 1974 through gift shops and tile shops.  Now at the ripe old age of 77 I am trying to learn how to promote my art  on the internet.  Wish me luck and please look at my art.
